Unix Software

The USSG offers software online and in CD-ROM formats for University users.

Linux Mirror

Online software is available via FTP. The USSG mirrors many different distributions and open source projects; all available and up to date 24/7/365.

For a list of most of our current Linux distributions we host, see our list of Linux Flavors.

ftp://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/ This is an anonymous FTP server.

Media

Software on CD-ROM is available to University faculty, staff, and students. Please email the USSG in advance so we can make sure the media will be available to you. You may then pick up the software from Wrubel Computing Center (IUB) or ET012 (IUPUI). The media is yours to keep or return.

You may email the USSG directly, or use the Contact Form

The USSG FTP site also has ISO images for many of these distributions that you can download and burn to CD-R for your own use. Some Linux distributions are also available at http://iuware.iu.edu.

IU/IUPUI only Software Keys

Indiana University's site license (held by us, the USSG) allows us to distribute certain license keys to appropriately authenticated IU personnel for use on machines with IU stickers on them (unless indicated otherwise). Please head over to our secure server and authenticate yourself for access to the license keys.

The Unix Systems Support Group (aka USSG) is a subunit of the Research Computing (RC) division of University Information Technology Services (UITS).
The USSG provides software, support, and resources to faculty, staff, and students at Indiana University who use or administer Unix/Linux workstations or servers.
